Who We Are
Darraweit Park Border Collies is a small, family-run breeding program based in Darraweit Guim, set on a peaceful 54-acre farm just an hour’s drive from Melbourne.
At our property, we are dedicated to raising Border Collies through a responsible and ethical breeding program. All of our dogs and puppies are registered with the Master Dog Breeders and Associates (MDBA), and we strictly follow their code of practice to ensure the highest standards of care, welfare, and breeding.
Our focus is on producing happy, confident puppies with wonderful temperaments. We aim to raise well-balanced companions that grow into intelligent, adaptable dogs—perfect for family life, while still having the potential to excel as working or service dogs.
As a small-scale breeder, we’re able to give each puppy the individual attention, care, and affection they deserve. This hands-on approach helps them develop into healthy, well-socialised pups that are ready to transition smoothly into their new homes.
From an early age, our puppies are exposed to a variety of everyday experiences. They interact with our other dogs, our addition pets, and spend plenty of time with family members.
We see every puppy as part of an extended family, and our support doesn’t stop once they leave our care. We’re always here for our puppy owners, offering ongoing advice and guidance whenever it’s needed, no matter how much time has passed.
From those first few days at home through to adulthood, we’re committed to helping you every step of the way—whether it’s training tips, health advice, or simply reassurance. Building lasting relationships with our puppy families means a great deal to us, and we take pride in knowing our puppies continue to thrive in loving homes.
The Face Behind Darraweit Park
Jodie Young has been lovingly breeding Border Collies for over 10 years, and it truly is her passion, not just a job. Every puppy raised is given the same care, attention, and affection as part of the family. Jodie takes great pride in nurturing well-rounded, happy, and healthy dogs, and her deep love for the breed is reflected in the way each puppy is raised from day one.
Home is a beautiful 54-acre farm in Darraweit Guim, where life is shared with horses, cats, chickens, birds, and of course, the much-loved Border Collies. It’s a peaceful, country environment where puppies have space to explore, grow, and develop their personalities. This setting allows them to experience a rich and stimulating start to life, surrounded by care and plenty of attention.
Family plays a big role in everything Jodie does. Her two children, Luke and Sarah, are an important part of the journey, with Sarah often working behind the scenes. From preparing puppy packs and managing the books to capturing those special moments as the puppy photographer, Sarah helps make sure everything runs smoothly. When you visit, there’s a good chance you’ll meet her as part of the experience.
Above all, Jodie’s heart is in making sure every puppy goes to the very best home. She is dedicated to matching each pup with the right family, ensuring they will be loved, cared for, and cherished for years to come.
